Love Your Neighbor As Yourself

We live in a house and have been for the past 7 years. During these years we have had the house vacant next to us for 4 of the years. A new family moved in about a year ago and they are very different then we are. I can honestly say I am not fond of our new neighbors they are loud and do car work in their driveway and it blows smoke in our windows and throws loud parties during the summer months. I wasn't really happy that they have been taken over most of the street parking as well. I learned a valuable lesson recently about my new neighbors. I had this idea of them in my mind as people I never wanted to spend time let alone live next to. I know it's awful of me for thinking this but I have gotten use to the quiet around here and I don't like so much going on via our quiet street. Well, the thing that changed my entire view was about a week ago I was trying to rake leaves on the side of our home. I was worried that it was going in their driveway and I didn't want to cause any issues. I set out to rake the mounds of leaves and got really tired after awhile. I did about 30 min of work and my back started to hurt so I went inside to rest. Well, the neighbors saw me moving things around and I heard this loud noise. I noticed it was next door and I was thinking oh great they are doing something loud again.. I was so wrong one of the men that lives next door had a leaf blower and was blowing my side of the house trying to help me. I was surprised and shocked that someone wanted to help me and we hardly ever talk. I walked back outside thanking him for his help and he helped me move so many leaves. I was forever changed and ashamed of how I had been acting. I recalled the saying

Mark 12:31 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’There is no commandment greater than these.”

This really stood out to me that I had this judgment against my neighbors for being so loud and not being what I had expected. I have to say don't judge a book by its cover. We have life lessons that are present I am glad I learned something new. I am starting to see that life is this ever learning experience.
